SCHENECTADY, NY — Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady announced today it will be holding a Hiring Fair for the $330 million gaming and entertainment destination on October 8. The Hiring Fair will be at the SEAT Center at 131 State Street in Schenectady, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prospective team members will have the opportunity to meet with leadership from Rivers Casino & Resort for on-the-spot screening and interviews. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumes.

Prospective team members can apply for any position at Rivers Casino & Resort at www.riverscasinoandresort.com/careers/. Those who have already applied online are strongly encouraged to attend the Hiring Fair to meet with hiring managers in person.

“This Hiring Fair is a golden opportunity to meet with the leadership of Rivers Casino & Resort, and to get on the fast track to being hired for one of approximately 1,200 positions we will be filling in the coming weeks and months,” said Mary Cheeks, General Manager of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady. “This is an incredible time to get involved in a company like ours that offers competitive pay and benefits, as well as a fantastic culture. I encourage job seekers to stop in on October 8 to speak with us.”

“Rivers Casino & Resort represents a tremendous opportunity for the entire Capital Region in the form of good, accessible jobs,” said Jenifer Lawrence, the Executive Director of the Social Enterprise and Training (SEAT) Center. “We are proud to be a partner to Rivers Casino & Resort and to host this Hiring Fair, and I encourage job seekers to come to downtown Schenectady and meet the Rivers team.”

Prior experience in the casino industry is not necessary for the majority of positions, and Rivers Casino & Resort will be providing training for new employees, such as the Rivers Casino & Resort Dealer School already underway. Job seekers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, and to visit the website for job descriptions. Rivers Casino & Resort will be hiring in stages for all positions leading up to an early 2017 opening.

Parking for the event will be available at nearby Schenectady County Community College. Signage and event staff will help guide attendees to the SEAT Center.

The operator of Rivers Casino & Resort, Rush Street Gaming, operates three other casinos, all of which have been named a 2015 “Best Place to Work” or “Top Workplace” by their team members.

Rivers Casino & Resort is a $330 million project that will have a 50,000-square-foot gaming floor with 1,150 slot machines, 63 gaming tables and 16 poker tables attached to a 163-room hotel and a 10,000-square-foot banquet facility capable of hosting up to more than 900 people for conventions and special events, one of the largest spaces in the region. Additionally, the property will have a steakhouse, a marketplace with light fare eateries, entertainment lounge and day spa. The casino will take full advantage of its riverfront position with outdoor patios and pre-function spaces. It is projected to open in the first quarter of 2017.

Rivers Casino & Resort will be located adjacent to a new mixed-use Mohawk Harbor development currently under construction by the Galesi Group, which constitutes an additional $150 million investment in the 60-acre riverfront property. The mix of residential, retail and commercial space will include a 124-room Courtyard by Marriott and a 50-slip harbor on the Mohawk River and Erie Canal.
