Jim Salengo has served as executive director of the not-for-profit Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC) since 2008. Jim leads a diverse and dedicated team that enhances the visual appeal of Downtown Schenectady, NY, through daily sidewalk cleaning & maintenance, seasonal plantings & decorations, and other special projects; manages a comprehensive print, online, and email communications program to increase public awareness and patronage of Downtown Schenectady; spurs activity through a series of popular events & promotions such as Schenectady Restaurant Week, the Wing Walk, and Downtown Schenectady’s City Hall-iday; and plays an active role in business & community development.
Gail White joined the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation in 2007 as Program Assistant and now serves as Office Manager. Gail coordinates the day-to-day operations of the office and provides assistance with the Business Promotion & Marketing and Environmental Enhancement programs. She also coordinates the DSIC’s intern program and researches and composes the “Downtown Schenectady This Week” e-newsletter, which spotlights weekly events and activities in the district.
Amy Sonder joined the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation in 2019 as Promotions Coordinator, a new position to the DSIC. In her role she oversees all social media content for the organization, markets Downtown businesses and organizations, and assists in the creation and implementation of Schenectady events. Amy brings with her knowledge of event planning, promotional marketing and a love for all things Downtown Schenectady! She is looking forward to seeing Downtown continue to grow while bringing in new events to the city.
