February 5, 2018Jim Salengo

1,100 new jobs, $26 million in jackpots, $53 million in new tax revenue, 350 events to date

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – February 5, 2018 – Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady is celebrating its First Anniversary on Thursday, February 8, and is marking the occasion with a full month of special events, entertainment, promotions and concerts. The Capital Region’s only casino has welcomed more than 1.5 million guests since opening its doors. Gaming enthusiasts have come in droves to experience the region’s only table games, poker room, and best slot machine action in the area. Guests have also enjoyed headline entertainment, award-winning dining, pampering spa treatments and beautiful accommodations at The Landing Hotel, Schenectady’s newest upscale boutique hotel.

During its first year of operation, players have hit more than 11,000 jackpots, which collectively paid out more than $26 million.

“I am incredibly thankful to our guests, our many community partners and our dedicated team members as we mark this important milestone,” said Rivers Casino & Resort General Manager Rob Long. “Rivers’ first year has been simply tremendous, and we look forward to the years to come.”

Getting the Party Started

Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady is celebrating its First Anniversary by throwing a month-long party filled with entertainment, promotions, specials and of course birthday cake. The Mallozzi Family is creating a special cake to celebrate this momentous occasion that will be served property-wide on Rivers’ anniversary date, Thursday, February 8.

A special event will be held on February 8 to thank Team Members for all their efforts leading up to and during Rivers’ first year of business, at which a mural will be unveiled that features the handprints of the entire Rivers team: “The Hands That Built Rivers.”

The anniversary weekend will be highlighted by a special performance by Country Music Superstar Randy Houser, who will appear Friday, February 9 in the Event Center. On Saturday, February 10, the Rivers All-Star Bands will take the stage of the Event Center. Fan favorites who have performed throughout Rivers’ first year will return for one night of non-stop excitement, with six different bands performing from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
