Metroplex: 68 PILOTs Generated $16.4 million in 2019

Schenectady, N.Y., January 23, 2019 — The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority today provided its annual update on Payment in Lieu of Tax (PILOT) agreements. In 2019, 68 PILOTs generated $16.4 million for local governments and school districts in Schenectady County up from $15.4 million in 2018.

“We are pleased to provide this annual PILOT report,” said Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair. “Our economic development team in Schenectady County continues to create new tax base. We are especially proud of the projects that replaced vacant buildings and blighted sites with new jobs and new tax revenue.”

The list of 2019 PILOT payments follows:

• 625 State Street in downtown Schenectady $696,442. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 450 State Street in downtown Schenectady $174,110. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 400 State Street in downtown Schenectady $90,629. Paid $0 prior to project.

• One Broadway Center in downtown Schenectady, $298,141. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 135 Broadway in downtown Schenectady, $31,993. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 426 State Street in downtown Schenectady, $50,000. Paid $0 prior to project.

• Former Scotia Navy Depot in Glenville, $304,846. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 600 McClellan Street in Schenectady, $79,915. Paid $0 prior to project.

• DSM at Schenectady County Airport Business Park in Glenville, $143,169. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 447 State Street in downtown Schenectady, $28,944. Paid $0 prior to project.

• College Suites in downtown Schenectady, $30,914. Paid $0 prior to project.

• 1510 Maxon Road in downtown Schenectady, $598,225. Closed retail building at site that was vacant for 30 years and paid nominal taxes prior to project.

• 111 Liberty Street in downtown Schenectady, $41,786. Long vacant office building converted to housing.

• 202 State Street in downtown Schenectady, $18,000. Long vacant building converted to housing.

• 204 Saratoga Road in Glenville, $203,000. Project replaced long vacant retail plaza.

• 245 Broadway in downtown Schenectady, $20,231. Built on vacant land that paid nominal taxes.

• Town Homes at Union Square in downtown Schenectady, $7,959. Project replaced blighted, vacant buildings with new townhomes.

• New office building at Socha Plaza in Glenville, $197,154. Formerly vacant land that paid nominal taxes.

• 150 Dutch Meadows Lane in Glenville, $205,239. Formerly vacant land that paid nominal taxes.

• 2160 Amsterdam Road at the Glenville Business and Technology Park, $216,947. Vacant land that was cleaned up prior to project. Site formerly paid no taxes.

• Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, $347,266. Building expansion added tax revenues.

• GE downtown Schenectady, $2,661,357. • GE Rotterdam, $5,000,000.

• SI Group in Rotterdam Junction, $806,251.

• 100 Nott Terrace in downtown Schenectady, $167,561. Project replaced older hotel with new hotel adding tax base.

• 2 Commerce Park Drive in Niskayuna Commerce Park, $36,301. New construction on vacant land that paid nominal taxes.

• 242 Broadway in downtown Schenectady, $108,900. Vacant land prior to project that paid nominal taxes.

• Building 9 at Rotterdam Corporate Park, $13,616. Vacant land prior to project that paid nominal taxes.

• 25 Mohawk Avenue in Scotia, $63,004. Closed retail location and former brownfield site that paid $0 in taxes prior to project.

• JLA Apartments in Schenectady, $36,913. New apartments on Albany Street. Formerly vacant buildings that paid nominal taxes.

• 13 State Street in downtown Schenectady, $37,938. Former YMCA paid $0 prior to project.

• Peek Street site in Schenectady, $5,644. Paid $0 prior to project.

• Former Macy’s Rotterdam, $33,250. Closed retail store redeveloped to house 700 NYS jobs.
