Mayor Gary McCarthy to Present ‘Key to the City’ to Disney’s The Lion King North American Tour

WHO:  Mayor Gary R. McCarthy will read a proclamation and offer the Key to the City to Disney’s The Lion King North American tour, performing at Proctors in Schenectady August 2-13. He will be joined by Proctors CEO Philip Morris; Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation Executive Director Jim Salengo; The Lion King stars Darian Sanders (Simba) and Khalifa White (Nala); City Hall and Proctors staff members; representatives of city government and members of the downtown community.

 WHAT:  Disney’s The Lion King is currently touring North America and makes their triumphant return to Downtown Schenectady, August 2-13. Later in the evening, and in honor of the shows return, The Metroplex Development Authority, DSIC and the mayor’s office will celebrate a new king in the city, by illuminating, in yellow and orange, the City Hall clock tower, the Broadway parking garage, Key Hall at Proctors, and other downtown Schenectady locations. Disney’s investment in Schenectady is a boon to city economy; an important economic engine for the community; and testament to Proctors importance in touring Broadway.
