Latest installation part of Schenectady’s Electric Vehicle Destination Initiative
SCHENECTADY – Mayor Gary McCarthy unveiled 10 new electric vehicle charging stations on Liberty Street in downtown Schenectady. The stations were provided by Livingston Energy Group and the installation was supported by National Grid’s Electric Vehicle Charging Station MakeReady program.
With 28 City-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging stations now available for public use and over 60 stations throughout the city, Schenectady’s Electric Vehicle Destination initiative aims to drive EV growth in the community and throughout the Capital Region, Mayor McCarthy noted.
“We are proud to unveil these 10 new stations today on Liberty Street as part of our Electric Vehicle Destination initiative,” Mayor McCarthy said. “We look forward to installing even more stations throughout the community and thank our partners for supporting our sustainability efforts here in Schenectady.”
“Adding additional charging stations in the City of Schenectady s is something National Grid is proud to work with Mayor McCarthy and Livingston Energy Group on to support New York state’s ambitious energy policy,” said National Grid Regional Executive Laurie Poltynski. “This installation is part of National Grid’s goal to install approximately 16,000 EV charging station ports in Upstate New York.”
“We are working to meet a rapidly-emerging demand to offer more convenient locations for charging stations,” said Schuyler Poukish, Co-founder of Livingston Energy Group. “Schenectady is one of the fastest growing residential, commercial, and entertainment destinations in the region. These charging stations will help support that growth, and attract more people to live, work and play in the Electric City because they can recharge their vehicles while they’re in town.”
Founded in 2016, Livingston Energy Group is an emerging installer of commercial electric vehicle charging stations, providing turn-key solutions to public and private organizations, helping them to attain sustainability goals, and upgrade facilities by utilizing government programs and cutting-edge technologies.
“We are honored to have this opportunity to support the City of Schenectady in its ongoing efforts as a leader in smart city technology and environmental responsibility.” said Schuyler Poukish Cofounder of Livingston Energy Group. “Beyond just the addition of charging infrastructure, we’re proud to be working on the Connected Community Project to encourage EV adoption and facilitate engagement with businesses and other community organizations. We’re envisioning businesses interconnected with drivers across communities, via a network of Level 2 and DCFC stations, for which Schenectady will be at the leading edge.”
