New restaurants offer new flavors! T-shirts, too.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—SEPT. 22, 2016—The wing is the thing! Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corp., Schenectady County and Schenectady County Convention & Visitors Bureau once again drive wing lovers wild with the Fifth Annual Wing Walk, celebrating the city’s vibrant restaurant scene along with the great atmosphere and walkability of downtown Schenectady.
From noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, wing fans will try samplings from 22 downtown Schenectady restaurants and vote for their favorite. New competitors Cornells in Little Italy will throw down with Scaperiello Chicken Wings; Pho Queen looks east with Siamese Wings; Marotta’s Bar-Risto gets hot and saucy with Fra Diavolo Wings; and Manhattan Exchange goes sweet and spicy with Mango Habanero Wings.
Amanda Thompson, of Ya Ya’s House Southern Cuisine will be serving a Hot, Spicy, Sweet, Chili Sauce Wing. She says, “We here are at Ya Ya’s House are truly excited to participate in the 2016 Wing Walk. As we approach our first anniversary in December, we take great pride in being a part of the broadening and vibrant culinary community of downtown Schenectady.”
Other participating restaurants include: 151 Bar & Restaurant, 20 North Broadway, Aperitivo Bistro, Apostrophe Café, Backstage Pub & Grill, The Bier Abbey, Bombers Burrito Bar, Café NOLA, Canvas, Corks & Forks, Centre Street Public House & Garden, Katie O’Byrne’s, Mexican Radio, Nico’s Rooftop Tavern, Pinhead Susan’s, Taj Mahal and Tara Kitchen.
Bill McDonald, of The Mad Jack Brewing Company at the Van Dyck, says, “We look forward to this event each year. It is gaining momentum and it’s a great way to showcase our great downtown.” Its entry? The “Fightin’ Irwing!”
2016 Wing Walk tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students (with appropriate I.D.) and are available at the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady; by phone at 518-346-6204; or at proctors.org. Sales are limited to 1,500 tickets.
Before sampling wings, ballots must be picked up at the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady. Guests may vote for their favorite wing recipe by dropping their ballots at any Wing Walk restaurant or the Box Office at Proctors by 5 p.m.
Also new for 2016, Fifth Annual Wing Walk T-shirts will be available for $10, while supplies last, at Proctors.
