Schenectady, N.Y., April 4, 2016 — Work on the Nicholaus Building continued today at the corner of State Street and Erie Boulevard in downtown Schenectady. The cupola on the building was inspected and found to be secure. Stabilization work continues along with repairs to the interior of the building. Engineers will conduct an inspection of the building’s exterior late tomorrow morning. At that time, it is expected that roads will be opened in the area surrounding the building.
For Monday evening and Tuesday morning’s commute, Erie Boulevard will remain closed southbound from Liberty Street to Erie Street. State Street will remain closed from South Ferry Street to Erie Boulevard.
Residents and commuters are asked to avoid Erie Boulevard and lower State Street until traffic restrictions are lifted. Updates will be provided at www.parkschenectady.com.
