Jahnel Group Press Release

December 7, 2020Amy Sonder2

Jahnel Group, a Schenectady based custom software development firm, is proud to announce it has hired its 100th employee! RPI alumnus, Peter Hodges, has joined the team as a software engineer bringing several years of experience and expertise with him. Despite the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic, Jahnel Group has hired 30 employees this year and is planning on adding at least that many to their Schenectady headquarters next year.

Jahnel Group started in 2012 with just three people on the team. Adding the 100th team member marks a significant milestone for the company. Over the past five years, Jahnel Group has enjoyed a 47% year-over-year growth rate, earning the company a spot on the revered Inc. 5,000 list each year.

Jahnel Group couldn’t have achieved this type of growth without the help of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority and Mike Yevoli’s team at NYS Empire State Development. “We congratulate the Jahnel Group for continuing to create new jobs. Hitting the 100 employee mark is certainly a reason to celebrate. This fast growing software company could be located anywhere and we thank the founders for staying and growing in their hometown of Schenectady,” said Ray Gillen, Chairman of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority.

When asked about what this milestone means to him, CEO Darrin Jahnel remained focused on Jahnel Group’s continued growth and the future. “We’re really fired up about hitting this milestone! Now we’ve set our sights on building JG Nation to 300 strong! We will keep hustling and delivering for our customers until we get there.”

In addition to its many accolades for accelerated growth, Jahnel Group also holds titles in a variety of the Capital Region’s best workplace competitions. The company’s culture has been the topic of many local news stories and, according to the Jahnel brothers, is a key ingredient in their success.

Jessie Zweigenthal, who serves as the company’s Director of Employee Engagement, says, “The most exciting thing about this milestone is that it has come without sacrificing our incredible culture. The heart behind what we do and who we are hasn’t changed because our executive team has kept their focus on encouraging, equipping, and empowering the people of Jahnel Group to become the best possible version of themselves. Since we’ve made it to 100 people without losing this, I have confidence that Jahnel Group will only get better as we grow.”
