December 27, 2019, Schenectady, N.Y. –- Schenectady County officials today recognized Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady for hosting almost 200 meetings, conferences and special events in 2019.
“We thank the entire team at Rivers, especially the Events Center staff, for recruiting and successfully hosting meetings and conferences,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature. “By bringing more people to the area we are able to showcase all the great things in and around Schenectady County, and how much we have to offer businesses, individuals and families.”
Jeff McDonald, Chairman of Discover Schenectady and a member of the Schenectady County Legislature said, “Rivers Casino & Resort has exceeded our expectations with their outstanding work in attracting meetings and special events to our community. We are proud of the work that our team at Discover Schenectady has done to support them in their efforts to bring more visitors to Schenectady County.”
Meetings and conferences brought more than 21,000 people to Schenectady County generating 7,850 room nights at The Landing Hotel located adjacent to the Events Center plus additional room bookings at nearby hotels.
The Events Center this year hosted a number of Statewide conferences, trade shows and a national convention.

We are very pleased to host these meetings and bring thousands of additional visitors to Schenectady.”
The Events Center has the capacity to host meetings with up to 1,000 guests with banquet seating for 600. The casino has parking for almost 2,400 cars in a parking garage and surface lots directly adjacent to the Events Center. Two hotels on site plus other lodging options located nearby make the facility competitive with any meeting venue in the Capital Region.
In addition, special events sponsored by Rivers Casino & Resort such as Harbor Jam attracted an additional 30,000 plus visitors to Schenectady County this year.
