Schenectady Soup Stroll Combats the Cold with Winter Warmth

27 Restaurants Will Serve Up Creative Soup Recipes on January 26

Schenectady, NY (Jan. 23, 2019) – Twenty-seven participating restaurants throughout Downtown Schenectady will dish up delicious hot soup for visitors during the 4th Annual Schenectady Soup Stroll on Saturday, January 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To enjoy the Soup Stroll, guests may pick up an event map at any participating location or print an online PDF copy and then and stroll from restaurant to restaurant to sample unique soup recipes for $1.00 per cup. The event is presented by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC).

Jim Salengo, executive director of the DSIC, said, “Now in its fourth year, the Soup Stroll has become a signature winter event in Downtown Schenectady and is a tasty way to warm up and fill up on a January afternoon. Visitors get to experience the amazing flavors of downtown’s popular dining scene while enjoying a great afternoon of socializing in the restaurants and along the streets.”

The following restaurants are participating in the 2019 Schenectady Soup Stroll:

Soup Strollers may vote for their favorite recipe by sampling at least 10 soups and having their map marked by restaurants, filling out the ballot on their map, and then placing the ballot in a Soup Stroll Drop Box by 4:15 p.m. at one of five locations around downtown. In addition, guest judges from the Yelp Albany Elite Member community will be tasting soups throughout the afternoon and choosing their top three recipes to win the Golden Tureen, Silver Spoon and Bronze Ladle Awards.

Ample free parking in Downtown Schenectady will be available throughout the Soup Stroll on the street, in public lots and in the Broadway garage. Details at parkschenectady.com.
