34 Restaurants Will Offer Creative Soup Recipes During 5th Annual Event on January 25
Schenectady, NY (Jan. 22, 2020) – Thirty-four participating restaurants throughout Downtown Schenectady will dish up delicious soup for visitors during the 5th Annual Schenectady Soup Stroll on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is presented by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC). To enjoy the Soup Stroll, guests may pick up an event map at any participating location – or print an online PDF copy from the DSIC website – and then stroll from restaurant to restaurant to sample unique soup recipes for $1.00 per cup.
Jim Salengo, executive director of the DSIC, said, “Now in its fifth year, the Soup Stroll has become a signature winter event in Downtown Schenectady and is a tasty way to warm up and fill up on a January afternoon. We have a record number of participants this year, and visitors will get to experience the amazing flavors of downtown’s popular dining scene while enjoying a great afternoon of socializing in the restaurants and along the streets.”

Soup Strollers may vote for their favorite “Souperstar” recipe by sampling at least 10 soups and having their map marked by restaurants, filling out the ballot on their map, and then placing the ballot in a Soup Stroll Ballot Box by 4:15 p.m. at one of four locations around downtown. In addition, guest judges representing regional food blogs will be tasting soups throughout the afternoon and choosing their top three recipes to win the Golden Tureen, Silver Spoon, and Bronze Ladle Awards. Judges are Katie Alois, Yelp Albany; Jess Sims, 518 Bites & Sights; and Tim Walton, Tim’s NY Kitchen and 518 Brews.
