Hell’s Grill at Tattoo Blues Named 2018 Chili Chowdown Winner

Restaurant receives the most votes during 4th annual event in Downtown Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, NY – December 8, 2018 – A total of 18 locations served up a mouthwatering selection of chili recipes and craft beer during the 4th Annual Schenectady County Chili Chowdown & Craft Brew Trail today from 12:00-5:00 p.m. in Downtown Schenectady. Guests were encouraged to cast votes for their favorite chili flavor. After all ballots were counted following the event, the 2018 Chili Chowdown winner by popular vote was Hell’s Grill at Tattoo Blues for their Hell’s Fire Chili.Second place went to Mad Jack Brew Pub at the VanDyck for their Three Meat Chili w/Creamy Jalapeno Polenta on Top. Third place went to The Backstage Pub for their Gram’s Spicy Chili.

In addition to the popular vote, a panel of special guest judges from the Yelp Albany Elite Member community rated participating restaurants’ chili creations. Judges’ picks were:

  • Judges’ Top Chili: Hell’s Grill at Tattoo Blues, Hell’s Fire Chili
  • Honorable Mention: The Backstage Pub, Gram’s Spicy Chili
  • Most Creative: The DillyBean, Dilly Chili
  • Best Texture: Mad Jack Brew Pub at the Van Dyck, Three Meat Chili w/Creamy Jalapeno Polenta on Top
  • Best Non-Traditional: Maria’s Café & Catering, Habanero Vegetarian Chili

The 4th Annual Schenectady County Chili Chowdown & Craft Brew Trail was presented in partnership by Schenectady County and the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation. Sponsors were Saratoga Eagle and the Times Union.
